Job Overview

 

Responsible for providing advice and counsel to managers, supervisors, and employees as to policies, procedures, and employee relations. Provides direct guidance to client group with regards to employee relations on the proper handling of all employee relations issues including disciplinary actions, terminations, lay-offs, Unemployment claims, retention, training and development and EAP referrals. Listens to employee problems and provides feedback to managers to ensure corrective action is taken. Provides feedback to management regarding employee morale and focus groups. Works within the system to provide employee resources expertise to the organization in all aspects of the employee relations’ function.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as mediator, and facilitator in arbitrating disputes between employee and their supervisors and managers. Uses care and judgment to ensure fairness and equity throughout the counseling process.
  • Coaches all levels of management personnel regarding employee relations issues in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Provides assistance and counsel to employees regarding any complaint, concern and grievance issue and assists with resolution.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of employee grievances; coordinate the processes of responding to complaints.
  • Conducts and analyzes exit interviews and assists with employee retention.
  • Handles and responds to all unemployment claims. This includes responding to claims, representing or coaching management who will attend hearings, filing appeals and preparing the necessary analysis for the organization(s).
  • Assists in or develops related employee relations and litigation reports.
  • Conducts and assist in the development of workshops and training for management on a variety of human resources issues: i.e., documentation, handling disciplinary situations, interpretation and policy implementation, etc.
  • Conducts research as requested on various Human Resources topics. Supports other Human Resources departmental task as required.
  • Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital.
  • Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or closely related field, and two to three five years of work related experience. Work requires the analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principals in performing various analyses and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs. Work requires the ability to interpret Hospital policies in situations requiring judgment and persuasion, develop and write instructional/training materials, develop management briefings or perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.
