Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance management of mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system engineering for complex technology solutions such as Active Directory, VMware, Citrix, storage and server environments. Other duties include assisting project teams with technical issus, technical analysis and design and support of operations staff in executing, testing, and rolling-out the solutions. Incumbent should be self motivated and capable of working both independently as well as part of a team. Typcial work week would include 25% of designing complex solutions, 40% of implementation and planning and 35% focus on supporting the environment.


Designs and implements complex IT infrastructure, identifying problems, proposing solutions and providing supporting documentation relating to Virtual and Physical server environments, storage, backups, messaging, Citrix and Active Directory Services Solves problems involving complex technical issues and multiple disciplines with limited guidance. Develops and maintains documentation of existing infrastructure, procedures, projects, and issues. Acts as a problem manager through major issues or escalations while documenting the incident response to resolution. Lead Root Cause Analysis sessions to achieve better networking practices. Examines implemented designs for deficiencies and facilitates correction. Prepares detailed work plans, implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Performs work task according to work plan and within target time while following the change control process. Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impact not he customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration. Adheres and contributes to all IT and Information Security Policies; resolves security concerns within agreed upon timeframes; advises manager of potential problems, requirements for expanded services, and status of current systems on an ongoing basis. Assists with the planning and deployment of infrastructure and data center in support of HIPAA and internal controls. Conduct routine network hardware audits for compliance with established standards and meets vendor support requirements Establishes guidelines, standards and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components. Apply OS and Software patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary and research new technologies to improve and/or automate IT workloads. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.


Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field and seven to ten years of work related experience. Requires analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Must possess strong customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.  Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), VMware Certified Professional-VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA)-Citrix Certified Engineer (CCE), and Storage (EMC and/or HP) certifications preferred.
