Supports the Nurse Manager in the coordination of patient care. Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients & addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality care. Delegates appropriately to other team members. Utilizes communication skills, leadership ability, time management and problem solving skills to facilitate the daily operation of the unit. Makes customer needs a priority . Plans, implements and evaluates nursing care collaboratively in accordance with the scope of nursing practice. Supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph�s Healthcare System. Serves as the main clinical resource for any issues/questions related to areas of specialty.


Assists the Nurse Manager in coordinating the overall care of patients during assigned shift. Evaluates and makes patient care assignments with consideration of patient acuity. Facilitates patient throughput by anticipating, assisting staff, collaborating with interdisciplinary team and ensuring timely discharge from unit. Assists Nurse Manager with scheduling, staffing and payroll as needed. Provides direct and indirect care to patients. Supports patient satisfaction initiatives. Acts as liaison to patients and families. Ensures and supports adherence to established quality measures and goals. Assists in the collection of relevant data. Ensures compliance with Infection Control procedures. Ensures safe environment in accordance with regulatory requirements. Participates in committees as needed. Supports during Rapid Responses, Code Blues, and all emergency situations. Supports on-going clinical education as needed. Collaborates care with all members of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates competent behavior in this professional role, including activities related to quality of practice, education, professional practice, evaluation, collegiality, ethics, research, resource utilization, and leadership. Supports Unit Based Councils. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment; provides individualized health teaching and promotion. Practices in accordance with established regulatory standards. Demonstrates competent behavior in the professional role, including activities related to quality of practice, education, professional practice evaluation, collegiality, collaboration, ethics, research, resource utilization, and leadership. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.
Special Projects


Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and two to three years Nursing experience required.�Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Successful completion of department specific orientation and department specific certifications of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire. �
