Transports patients to designated destination using stretchers, wheelchairs, isolates, or cribs. Obtains all required materials to assure a safe timely transport is achieved. Must maintain an average of 3.0 jobs per hour. Transporter checks the ID band ( name and MR#) prior to transport and compares with the information in the alpha numeric pager and the patients chart. All discrepancies are called to dispatch. Utilizes the Transport Tracking System per XT protocol( dispatch, in progress, complete) Delay codes are used for all jobs not put in progress within 5 Min. Extended delays are called to dispatch. C lears all Bed Transfers with dispatch prior to move. Performs Hands Off by notifying each department of the patients arrival, signs patient off the unit, uses hands off form on all transports, assures the patient is safe for transport and all necessary equipment and safety measures are in place. Any discrepancies are called into dispatch. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality during all transports, patient is dignity is respected , chart is not displayed, elevator etiquette is followed. Communicates with the patient during transfer to assure that the patient comfort is achieved. Inspects all equipment prior to use, cleans when necessary, cleans after each use with germicide, makes rounds to collect equipment and return to appropriate location, assures equipment is secure and not blocking doorways ,exits or fire extinguishers. Follows the Infection Control guidelines of the hospital and department, calls dispatch or logistics nurse with any discrepancies. Completes required training and education including department specific requirements. Must obtain and maintain CPR certification. Performs delivery services as assigned, Stat Labs, Blood Products medications and mail. Hospital and Department P/P are followed for each. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned.
