 Job Overview

 

Responsible for 24 hour accountability for the operation of a Nursing Unit by managing all resources necessary to meet the resident's needs. Assures implementation of nursing standards of practice using policies and procedures. Provides an environment conducive to employee growth and productivity and functions within the confines of regulatory requirements. Interacts with residents, families, MD/APN, and with all other departments to meet residents needs to ensure quality of life. Acts as a House Supervisor in the absence of the ADON. Provides input, as well as knowledge to complete all necessary parts of the MDS.

Responsibilities

Assesses resident acuity on rounds and utilizes judgment to determine appropriate interventions. Ensures all care plans have been initiated and revised when clinical changes are noted. Evaluates and coordinates both a 24 hour and monthly basis the staffing and scheduling of all nursing personnel on the unit. Utilizes staff cost effectively. Defines and organizes the units patient care delivery system consistently Improving efficiencies that enhance patient care and physician and staff satisfaction. Makes daily rounds and interacts with residents/families to assure optimum resident care. Monitors nursing documentation to review staff needs for education, ensure appropriate assessments are complete, and all documentation required is completed timely and accurately. Conducts monthly meetings with all staff to address unit goals, unit activities, resident care, and promote open communication with all staff members. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects

Qualifications

Requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or closely related field and three to five years of previous work related experience. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Work requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources and apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
