Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repair of all type of HVAC and Refrigeration Systems within the facility. Systems maintained include, but are not limited to, Air Handlers, Exhaust Fan, Package, Roof Top, Split Type Heating and Cooling System , Glycol , Chilled Water Systems, Hot Water, Steam Heating Systems etc. Maintains Pneumatic Controls , Building Automation System. Operate and monitors Pneumatic Tube System, Elevators and Fire Alarm System
Installs and troubleshoots pneumatic controls, electronic controls, piping, Heat exchanger, steam PRV, safeties and all other pneumatic components/systems. Installs and troubleshoots HVAC/R system (i.e., compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, safeties and controls), pumps, valves, piping, ice machines, refrigerators, cryostats and thermostats. Performs PM and repair on all HVAC/R units, FCU units, heating units, air handlers, split units, package units etc. Perform required work on CCV, MB, VAV and Reheat systems. Installs/modifies ductwork, Steam/Hot Water piping, Insulation, Refrigeration lines. Repairs and installs Ice machines, Steam traps, Exhaust fans and dampers. Performs electrical connection work on HVAC/R systems. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical system problems and resolve all temperature complaints. Performs required inspections of Fire extinguishers, Fire and Smoke dampers. Provides first line of response/repair for all maintenance problems. Resolves temperature complaints and replace ceiling tiles. Performs daily rounds and record readings of all mechanical/plumbing systems. Maintains and Operate Building Automation System, Pneumatic Tube System ,Elevator and Fire Alarm Systems. Provides off-shift coverage, May include performing general maintenance tasks, but not limited to handling misc. objects, change light bulbs, paint, clean drains, resolve nurse call issues and snow removal. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one but less than two years of basic technical or occupationally specific training in H.V.A.C. Refrigeration and five to seven years of previous work related experience. EPA Type 4 Certification required. Valid driver’s license required, as well as compliance with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program.
