Responsible for performing all types of general carpentry work, including, but not limited to, sheetrock work, framing, spackling/taping, suspended ceilings, masonry, flooring, roofing, cabinetry, door hardware and locksmithing.
Installs and repairs partitions, suspended ceilings, vinyl base, ceramic wall and floor tiles, masonry wood and steel door bucks, jams and doors, door closers, stops and door lights. Constructs and repairs cabinets, counters, desks, furniture and miscellaneous wooden fixtures with refinishing and plastic surfacing as necessary. Repairs and replaces roof drains, gutters and leaders. Installs, replaces and repairs window panes, window screens, venetian blinds, shades and chair rails, etc. Installs, repairs, replaces worn and damaged locks as requested by Security or Maintenance Department. Performs PM on doors and linen chute doors. Utilizes various hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, gauges, etc. in performing tasks. Assist in all aspects of moving furniture, beds, and equipment as necessary to complete job tasks. Assist with snow removal operations, including shoveling, plowing, and use of power equipment, sanding, salting, etc. Provides off-shift coverage work, which may include general maintenance tasks, replace light bulbs, replace ceiling tiles, minor painting, etc. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one but less than two years of basic technical or occupationally specific training in carpentry and one to two years of previous work related experience. Valid driver’s license required, as well as compliance with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program.
