 Job Overview

Responsible for the daily operation of the Nursing Department by managing all resources necessary to meet the patient needs, providing an environment conducive to employee growth , productivity and functions within the confines of regulatory requirements. Works as the designated on site hospital administrator after normal business hours. Responsible for the assessment of all requests for administrator on call contact during the evening/night shift. Functions collaboratively and in partnership with management to develop and implement short and long term goals of the Healthcare System.


Identifies real and potential problems affecting the nursing service, problem solves and implements solutions with follow through and communication utilizing PI data, etc. Provides an environment focused on safety that minimizes adverse patient outcomes and work related illness and injury. Participates in and encourages staff involvement in policy implementation and decision-making based on research and evidence based practice. Assists in the development and implementation of new and ongoing service programs to ensure quality nursing and patient care programs consistent with patient needs. Provides direction to nursing staff during increasing/decreasing periods of patient activity; intervenes during crisis and emergency situations providing leadership. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects


Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or closely related field, Masters degree preferred and three to five years of work related experience and two years in a management role. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Work requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources and apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
