Responsible for the radiologic procedures within the department. The person acts as a resource to other staff when X-ray and flouro are involved. Directly responsible under the direction of the MD for all radiolographic and archiving equipment.
Responsible for all equipment and radiation protection on the patient and staff while performing procedures. Prepares trays for procedures in a sterile a manner maintaining aseptic technique. Ensures appropriate identification of patient with correct patient ID is completed in MAC Lab and X-ray system. Accurately records documentation of all team members, procedures and medication during procedures. Confirms all procedures are transferred successfully at the end of each procedure. Assists the physician during procedures by scrubbing utilizing sterile technique and being appropriately according to hospital policy. Complies with established personnel protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and body fluids. Records, stores, retrieves and reviews data obtained during the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Stays in assigned work areas during and in between procedures to assure proper room turn around time. Responsible for QC on all imaging equipment and radiation protection with the department. Keeps knowledge updated on diagnostic and interventional catheters, wires, balloons and stents and special procedure products. Returns inventory at the end of the procedure to appropriate location. Knows where products are kept for quick retrieval. Removes sheaths under the direction of the MD according to hospital policy and procedure. Notifies the RN and the MD of any complication during the procedure. Attends outside programs to expand knowledge base of interventional cardiology. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires the level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of two to three years of occupationally-specific education beyond High School or an Associate's degree in Radiology Technology or closely related field. State of New Jersey licensure required. May explain clinical, technical and diagnostic procedures to patients and their families, comforting patients and their families, enforcing policies and regulations in difficult situations, or performing other duties requiring a comparable level of communication.
