Responsible for evaluating the patients growth and development, plans and administers individualized and group therapeutic recreational activities to normalize the hospital environment and decrease anxieties related to illness. Works in coordination with the staff and interdisciplinary team members about the progress of patients and makes necessary changes to daily activities as needed. Assess needs of patients and families and conduct activities centered around the children's current medical status, as well as seasonal and departmental events.
Establishes, implements, evaluates and revises treatment strategies to ensure optimal growth and development of patients infant through twenty one years of age. Designs and implements a diversified program of TR geared to meeting patient needs and afford interdisciplinary participation in actual treatment and goal formation in coordination with the staff. Provides a variety of group and individual TR activities. Organizes and supervises TR activities in the playroom and/or the day hospital Provides TR activities to patients in examination rooms/individual rooms as needed. Maintains current licensure requirements and updates clinical knowledge by attending continuing educational activities. Provides follow up in-services to staff. Adheres to infection control standards when working with patients and upon starting/finishing daily tasks. Completes necessary departmental paperwork and chart notes. Participates in departmental meetings and events or read minutes as necessary. Implements changes accordingly. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Graduate from an accredited program in Therapeutic Recreation. Current Certification as a CTRS or CTRS eligible.
