    Job Overview

    Responsible for providing the linkage to care for individuals diagnosed with hepatitis C and B infection as part of a program to automate viral hepatitis diagnosis using the electronic medical record system in the DePaul Clinic, Emergency Room and hospital. Works with the hospital’s Information Technology department to obtain reports of newly diagnosed patients and link those patients to care, which includes assisting patients with access to health care provider appointments (hepatology, gastroenterology, infectious disease); obtains insurance authorization for diagnostic studies (ultrasound, elastography, CAT scan, MRI, liver biopsy) and treatment (hepatitis C and B medications). Assists patients with the process to obtain insurance (Affordable Care Act) through services available at St Joseph’s. Participates in and assists with clinical research and clinical trials in accordance with accreditation and prior experience.

    Qualifications

    • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates with one to two years of work related experience and three to six months of on the job training and orientation may also be considered for the role.
    • Prior experience with the patient registration process, insurance authorization for diagnostic procedures and medications required as is the ability to verbally interact with patients.
    • Ability to speak Spanish or Arabic preferred.
