Responsible for overseeing the care of a defined patient population as a dominant aspect of the role and is recognized as an interdisciplinary leader within his/her specialty. Responsible for enacting standards of practice and standards of professional performance, consistently demonstrates the core competencies of advanced practice nursing as well as defined specially competencies.
Practice: Practices in accordance with the ANA's Standards related to assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Consultation/Prescriptive Authority: Provides consultation. Uses prescriptive authority in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. Professional Practice: Participates in activities related to quality of practice, education of others, promotion of evidence-based practice, and research. Role Modeling: Participates in professional practice evaluation. Demonstrates collegiality, collaboration, ethics, leadership, and effective resource utilization. Diversity: Delivers culturally sensitive care and promotes cultural competence among team members. Self-Development: Engages in professional development and continuing education activities related to APN role and to specialized area of practice. Safety: Promotes safety in practice. Practices in accordance with regulatory agency standards. Health Promotion: Employs strategies to promote health within identified patient population. Work required knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in Nursing or closely related and three to five years of previous work related experience. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Certification required as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Successful completion of department specific orientation and department specific certifications such as BLS, PALS, NRP, ACLS, TNCC, TCAR within one year of hire. Any APN administering chemotherapy must be CPHON or ONC certified within one year of hire.
