Responsible for directing, managing, implementing and evaluating educational programming to meet the needs of direct-care employees, primarily the nursing staff. Supervises Clinical Education Specialists in each service area and provides direction, coaching and assistance to meet educational competency requirements; Collaborates within the organization to measure and insure that educational efforts positively impact patient care and performance improvement goals.
Focusing on the direct care clinical staff, especially those providing nursing services, establishes and directs the clinical competency plan within the healthcare system; acts as consultant to departments to identify and meet competency requirements. Develops strategies to meet educational needs across employee populations adapting methods and plans to shifts, employee types and patient populations served; assures integration of organizational goals to foster St. Joseph's mission across the system. Directs and supervises the implementation of a current and relevant educational plan for the clinical staff; methodology includes use of informatics, interactive and self-learning activities that align with the principles of organizational development and adult learning. Evaluates educational programming for quality and effectiveness; establishes required measures and reports outcomes on a regular basis; uses data to affect changes in process and procedure across the system and to meet regulatory requirements. Organizes, directs and completes clinical educational projects according to relevance and priority assignment. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Masters in Nursing and three to five years of previous work related experience. Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Work requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources and apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
