    Job Overview

     

    The Physician Advisor is the liaison between Revenue Cycle Management, Utilization Management and Physician practice. The Physician Advisor's function is as a clinical resource and consultant to medical staff, Care Managers and Clinical Documentation Specialists by providing identification, facilitation and resolution to utilization management issues, appropriate care, and length of stay. The Physician Advisor is responsible for providing medical leadership for administering the facility’s utilization management staff, payors, and managed care organizations to support the efficient use of resources for inpatients and the coordination of services during transitions of care to the community.

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Doctor of Medicne (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required  
    • Licensed as a Physician in the State of New Jersey
    • Requires critical think skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
    • Knowledge of medical necessity criteria, managed care business models, risk arrangements, peer review, performance profiling with data, outcome management strategies, practice guideline development and application, as well as risk management principles
