Under supervision and according to policies and procedures, provides for the physical and emotional well being of residents. In doing so, supervises the care rendered by the certified nursing assistant (CNAs). Ensures that CNAs completes assignment timely, and they document timely and appropriately. Administers prescribed medications and performs treatments as ordered. Documents all pertinent resident information clearly and concisely based on nursing process.
Administers direct resident care, medication and treatments in an organized and timely manner to complete assigned work within an eight hour shift. Obtains shift report and evaluates residents for change in condition. Reports to the RN/NM, and MD/APN, any changes in resident's condition and requests assistance in nursing measures beyond the scope of the individual's competency. Makes rounds and reports on each resident in the on-coming shift. Participates in formulating the nursing care plans which includes goal & prescribed actions for goal achievement with the Registered Nurse. Contributes to all planning and evaluation of care by adding to the existing care plan as needed. Assists the MD/APN with physical examinations and special treatments. Carries out or assists with diagnostic procedure; records vital signs; and collects specimens as needed. Performs the d physical assessment on admissions and readmissions, under the guidance of the Registered Nurse. Carries out admission, discharge, and transfer procedures. Answers call lights timely. Assist residents when responding to call lights. Maintains the security and confidentiality of the resident's medical record. Monitors CNAs performance on completion of their assignments and assists them as needed. Ensures CNAs complete all documentation timely and appropriately. Performs nursing services related to personal hygiene, bowel and bladder training, and assists in providing dietary needs of the residents. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of basic technical or occupationally specific training in Practical Nursing .Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Work requires the analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
