Transcribes information dictated by the Emergency Department Physician into the medical record. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and maintains patient confidentiality.
Enters patient information, history and physical examination results, medical procedure information and other patient care treatments into the medical record as dictated by the Emergency Department physician. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology. Maintains a patient call back log and recalls those patients the following day. Demonstrates knowledge of computers, including specific software required in the Emergency Department. For example, Medhost, PACS, etc. Demonstrates knowledge of personal protective equipment, standard precautions and other general infection control measures. Follows up on laboratory and radiology results for assigned patients. Proofreads and ensures accurate documentation of patient encounters within the electronic medical record. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects Performs patient satisfaction related tasks including hourly rounding and basic comfort measures. Initiates calls to consultants, tracking timely return calls in the EMR. Manage calls for physicians
Work requires a High School diploma with some college credit toward a degree in a healthcare related field. Bilingual a plus.
