Responsible for keeping assign areas clean, sanitary and aseptic by scouring, scrubbing, mopping and polishing using approved germicides and cleaners. Removes trash from containers. Performs high dusting spot cleaning, bathroom cleaning, restock all dispensers through out facility, clean offices, utility rooms, lounges and all other rooms as assigned by supervisor.
Properly segregates, stores and disposes of all waste generated in assigned area. Empties and cleans inside and outside of trash, recycling and RMW containers in assigned areas. Reports all maintenance issues in assigned area to reporting supervisor. Adequately performs all duties listed in assigned duty list for each shift. Maintains adequate level of supplies at all times and takes care to store them properly according to guidelines established by the supervisor and the Physical Environment Committee. Maintains assigned equipment in clean condition as noted by supervisor inspections. Expedites cleanliness of the patient room upon discharge by following Tele-Tracking and infection control procedures. Cleans, sanitizes, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings throughout facility. Properly utilizes cleaning chemicals and products for their intended use as trained and instructed by the supervisor. Actively participates in training sessions and department meetings to help maximize their effectiveness. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital.

Work requires the ability to read and understand written instruction and no previous experience, High School diploma or equivalent preferred plus three to six months on the job training and orientation.
