Responsible for performing various general maintenance tasks throughout the complex and Satellite Facilities. Work includes basic tasks in any of the department trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Grounds maintenance, etc.)
Performs general maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, hanging miscellaneous objects, cabinet repairs, minor painting, clearing drains, resolving nurse call issues. Provides first line of response. Performs maintenance and repair on beds, wheelchairs, furniture, Appliances and miscellaneous equipment. Performs preventives maintenance and repairs on minor mechanical/electrical and plumbing equipment as required including changing filters, oil, lubrication and cleaning evaporator, condenser coils and motors. Responds to fire/disaster. Responsible for resetting fire alarm system, elevators and pneumatic tube system. Utilizes various hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, gauges, meters, etc. in performing tasks. Perform Weekly and Monthly testing of emergency generator. Replaces ceiling tiles, change light bulbs, ballast and switches. Resolves temperature complaints. Maintains minor equipment including replacing motors, belts, bearings and pulleys. In residential and off-site properties, may perform repair/replacement of plumbing, minor electrical work, carpentry, painting, PM work and resolve temp. complaints. Required to cover off-shifts when needed. Performs maintenance tasks in general, providing first line of response/repair for maintenance problems. Performs rounds and record readings. Provides off shift coverage and snow removal Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and up to one year of basic (general maintenance) technical training in maintenance mechanics and one to two years of previous work related experience. Valid driver’s license required, as well as compliance with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program.
