Responsible for providing support to the DON/ADON for the staffing of all nursing personnel at St. Vincent's. Maintains database, processes payroll using Ansos & Kronos, and provides reports as requested.
Processes payroll for nursing staff. Makes sure all staff, including Per diems, are costed to units they worked. Reviews staffing sheets for callouts/cancellations, and notifies manager/supervisor for excessive absences. Anticipates staffing concerns (under & over staffing) on review of schedules so alternatives can be explored, i.e. list posted for staff need for OT, and calls all per diem staff. Collaborates with manager/supervisor to adjust daily staffing levels to achieve cost effective staffing alternatives which meet the residents care requirements by reallocating staff among units. Modifies and keeps current daily staffing sheets to ensure accuracy by reviewing and recording all requests, illnesses, absences, and cancellations. Promptly reports staffing concerns to manager/supervisor. Assists in formulating reports/responses to Nursing as needed by DON/ADON, and manager/supervisors. Assists with tasks necessary for general management and organization of the Nursing Office. Creates all staffing schedules for all units and shifts by scheduling all staff, including per diems, after supervisors complete the schedules. Posts all schedules on all units. Answers the telephone in a pleasant manner and fosters friendly interactions in difficult situations. Assists in greeting staff who need assistance scheduling. Completes all mandatory in-services required by State and Federal Regulations, and thus required by St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent with additional course work in computers, proficiency of Microsoft Office preferred, ANSOS Training to be given and one to two years of previous work experience. Prior experience with staffing/scheduling preferred. Work requires analytical and problem-solving skills. Work requires communication skills needed to frequently answer telephone calls and work with multiple interruptions and still sustain positive communication. Work requires knowledge of Nursing Service functions and medical terminology.
