Prepare and operate tray assembly line for patient feedings. Operate dish machine, prepare special nourishments, prepare and deliver trays. Serve and distribute food and supplies, snacks, nourishments. Serve at service counter in Employee Cafeteria and/or in catering area. Performs duties of Cashier in Employee Cafeteria. Provide food products, fill, breakdown and replenish stations such as salad bar, soda, pastry, cold food and hot entrees in Employee Cafeteria. Cashier Responsibilities: Follows established procedures in activities related to ringing up sales accurately and making correct change for customers. Demonstrates knowledge of prices and of menu items. Adheres to cashiering polices ensuring all sales accounts are rung up accurately: hospital employee, food service employee, medical doctors, students, residents, volunteer, clergy and guests. Ensures all information is entered in cash register accurately on the appropriate key. Performs a wide variety of routine tasks of sanitation/replenishment in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient service areas according to departmental and regulatory standards. Preps/operates station on tray line, catering, and/or cafe. Handles food in a safe/sanitary manner as per dept. & regulatory standards. Prep/portions nourishments, desserts, and cold items according to production counts & therapeutic diets. Operates dish machine as per dept. protocol to ensure proper temp. and detergent usage for optimal cleanliness of dishes and utensils. Ensures all serviceware is handled in a safe/sanitary manner as per regulatory standards. Prepares trays accurately and timely. Checks patient trays/ customer meals for accuracy and/or missing items & corrects as needed before delivery. Ensures that tray tickets correctly match food items placed on trays. Cleans/ sanitizes work station, tables, counter tops, etc as per dept. and regulatory standards. Cleans up spills as needed. Maintains work area to be neat, clean, organized, and plentiful (but not excessive) with supply. Delivers meals (patient/caf�/catering) as per designated scripts & protocols. Proper hand washing, uniform, safety measures, and accountability while in any service area. Patients: Verify name/MR# against tray ticket & ID band. Conducts proper labeling and dating of all perishable food products in refrigeration. All food is to be used in accordance to FIFO procedures and expired foods are to be discarded according to policy. Conducts behavior of optimal customer service and teamwork according to dept's standards. Serves customers according to their desires and instructions. Works w/ nursing to ensure patient's meal needs are met. Maintains equipment to ensure optimal meal service for customers. Reports any equipment issues to supervisor for resolution. Collaboratively cross trains to work in all areas of department including (but not limited to): trayline, diet office, cafeteria, catering, cashier, etc. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Cashier Responsibilities Enters sales information into cash register accurately according to dept. procedure. Makes and delivers correct change for customers. Counts cash & validates bank w/ mgmt. Accurately completes cash deposit sheet & delivers deposits to hospital cashier as per established procedures. Provides sales/census receipts to dept. secretary for trending report. Demonstrates knowledge and assists customers with information on menu items and accurate pricing. Fills, replenishes, and breaks down stations such as paper goods, dairy items, fresh fruit displays, dry goods, etc. in the cafeteria. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instruction and no previous experience, High School diploma or equivalent preferred plus three to six months on the job training and orientation. Certification preferred as a Food Handler from the City of Paterson or similar food safety certification. Work requires the analytical ability to read & understand instructions, add & subtract numbers, make comparisons between numbers and letters.
