Responsible for utilizing the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/her scope of practice. The RN supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph's Healthcare System and on his/her assigned unit.
Assessment: Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation in a systematic and ongoing process, involving the patient, family and other providers. Diagnosis: Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues. Prioritizes, validates and documents the diagnoses. Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation. Defines and documents measurable goals and time frames. Planning: Develops an individualized plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain the expected outcomes in collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team members. Implementation: Coordinates and collaboratively implements the identified plan in a safe, timely manner utilizing evidence-based interventions and treatments specific to the diagnosis or problem. Evaluation: Conducts a systematic, ongoing, and criterion-based evaluation of the outcomes in relation to the plan of care. Includes the patient/family and other healthcare providers in the process. Documents the results. Revises plans as needed. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment: Provides individualized health teaching and promotion. Practices in accordance with established regulatory standards. Demonstrates competent behavior in the professional role, including activities related to quality of practice, education, professional practice evaluation, collegiality, collaboration, ethics, research, resource utilization, and leadership. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Special Projects
Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or closely related field preferred. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Successful completion of BLS, a department specific orientation and department specific certifications such as PALS, ACLS, etc. Current clinical experience required for consideration in area. Must complete testing prior to orientation for specialty areas. Must complete orientation within first 90 days of employment. Required to work a minimum of 2 weekend shifts per 4-week time schedule and 1 summer and 1 winter Holiday. Must meet all Human Resource requirements.
