Process diet orders and receive orders via communication with patients or health care professionals. Verifies that orders comply with diet prescription. Identify needs such as therapeutic, food drug interaction, cultural preferences, and food allergies and note those needs with special tray ticket indicator. Conducts patient care rounds using wireless laptop device to obtain patient meal preferences. Patient assistance is given for menu preparation for the following day. Calculates and complete production sheets for Hot and Cold food items and special items. Maintain records for manager.
Professionally answers telephone and processes messages as per designated scripting--includes problem solving to meet prescribed diet requirements and patient satisfaction needs. "Accurately transcribes patient diet order and/or menu selections into automated diet office system. Assists 100% of patients in assigned units with all menu/ food related issues as needed. " Accurately processes diet changes for B, L, D & between meal feedings. Accurately/efficiently prepares menus for trayline, assuring every patient receives appropriate diet as Rx'ed. Timely prepares tray tickets for trayline service. Adjusts patient meal data to comply with diet order, as well as personal needs of patient. Provides appropriate substitutions to meet diet Rx and patient acceptance. Advises patients on compliance with Diet Order. Accurately prepares document for tube feeding per diet orders. Accurately completes checklists, production sheets & tasks for patient feeding. Participates with dept PI initiatives involving optimal pt satisfaction (phone etiquette, tray ticket accuracy, professional bedside communication) " Accurately maintains records/logs for daily patient census, late trays, patient specific meal patterns, diet order transmission record for all patients, patient nourishments and special request forms. " Maintains and updates diet cardexes for menu requests for all patients. Delivers meals in a professional manner to patients according to department protocols (when needed). Conducts inventory and rotates stock of nutritional supplements in Nursing Unit pantries. Organizes tube feedings and nutritional supplements on each unit as assigned. Delivers overstock of supplements back to the department accordingly. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Work requires the ability to read and understand written instruction and no previous experience, High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Work requires the analytical ability to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific knowledge, mathematical, or technical principles. Work requires understanding of automated diet office system data entry and internal adjustment. Work requires analysis of information (data) from Hospital ADT system (SMS- Invision).
