Responsible for utilizing the Nursing Process in a collaborative manner to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with his/ her scope of practice. Supports the goals and philosophy of the Department of Nursing within the St. Joseph's Healthcare System and on his/ her assigned unit.
Performs age specific patient assessment recognizing & analyzing physical, psychological and spiritual responses to illness and or life processes, and reports findings to MD/APN promptly with accurate documentation Plans, manages and implements appropriate patient care following prescribed therapy maximizing personnel resources, family involvement and materials. Participates in educational programs to maintain licensure. Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional competency and required education and certifications. Performs all required testing on patient with accuracy and documents results in a clear concise legible manner including all in office lab tests and procedures. Prepares, implements & reinforces all education for each patient, utilizing appropriate teaching techniques, clinical references, interpretation, disease process, growth & development . Encourages the patient/family member to actively participate in his/her care. Transcribes & administers prescribed medications following all applicable medication unit policies and procedures Leads staff in facilitating optimal patient flow to ensure efficient operations and to increase patient/customer and staff satisfaction. Communicates and collaborates with patients/family members, physicians and all health care team members necessary information, ultimately optimizing the intended quality outcome for the patient. Participates in and promotes the ongoing improvement of patient care by identifying the need for specific performance improvement involving data study and outcomes Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or closely related field preferred. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey.
