Responsible for monitoring, recording and reviewing EKG hemodynamic data during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Prepares patients for various invasive procedures utilizing sterile technique. Assists physicians by scrubbing during procedures.
Prepares trays for procedures in a sterile manner maintaining rules for aseptic technique. Ensures appropriate identification of patients with correct ID is completed in MAC Lab and Phillips. Documentation of all teams members, procedures and medications are recorded accurately during procedures. Confirms all procedures are transferred successfully at the end of each procedure. Assists physicians during procedures by scrubbing utilizing sterile technique and being appropriately attired. Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and body fluids Records, stores, retrieves and analyzes data obtained during the performance of interventional and diagnostic procedures. Stays in assigned area during and in-between procedures to assure proper turn around times of rooms. Responsible for liquid QC's on Avox meters. Keeps knowledge updated on diagnostic and interventional cathers, wires, balloons and stents and special procedure products. Returns inventory at the end of procedure to appropriate location. Knows where products are kept for quick retrieval during procedures. Assists with emergency situations utilizing BLS/ACLS guidelines under the direction of the MD and the RN. Attends outside programs to expand knowledge base of interventional cardiology. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Removes sheaths under the direction of the MD according to hospital policy and procedure. Notifies RN and MD of any complication during the procedure. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and two to three years of previous work related experience. Certificate as a Cardiac Tech or similar training is required. Work requires providing direct patient care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult, and geriatric patients. May explain clinical, technical and diagnostic procedures to patients and their families, comforting patients and their families, enforcing policies and regulations in difficult situations, or performing other duties requiring a comparable level of communication.
