Responsible for the daily operations of the medical office including, but not limited to, scheduling patients, setting up patient accounts, answering phones, insurance verification, data entry and ordering office and medical supplies. This position also assists as needed with patient care activities including preparing patients for examination, obtaining, recording patient vital signs and phlebotomy.
Schedules all patient appointments and prepares charts. Completes all necessary documentation in patient's medical record. Performs general office clerical duties. Answers phones ordering supplies. Responsible for office accounting procedures such as check request, monthly travel grant expenses. Performs verification and authorization of insurance coverage. Prepares the medical exam room and the patient examination. Assists member of the healthcare team with various aspects of patient care procedures, providing instructions to patients and performing basic lab procedures. Performs phlebotomy, labels and forwards specimens to appropriate lab. Enters all demographic and insurance information into the hospital information system. Completes patient referrals when needed. Restocks exam room in preparation for readiness of patient care. Adheres to Infection Control Guidelines. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program. Must have and maintain current certification or registration from an accredited institution, e.g.: AAMA, NHA, AMT. Bilingual preferred.
